A tree made completely of .... Marshmellow PEEPS! If you order hot chocolate...you get a marshmellow peep in it! How fun is that! Who thought peeps were just for Easter...this gave Peeps a whole new meaning AND there is even a Peeps Store (which we didn't have time or energy to visit this time).

ICE ICE Baby!
Tonight we experienced Christmas on the Potomac at National Harbor. It was so beautiful. You first start in the Gaylord Hotel for the tree lighting and water show. After that, the "snow" begins to fall from the "sky" in the courtyard. Okay, maybe it wasn't really snow...it was foam...and maybe it wasn't the sky but the light fixtures but it gave the special effect of snow and that works for us! Afterwards, you head over to the ice tent. This year's theme is Dr. Seuss' Grinch. Though there was a beautiful life size nativity carved out of ice at the end. Everything was carved in ice and the building is kept at 9 degrees! They gave everyone blue parkas to wear - which helped with the cold, looked cool in pictures but made it really hard to keep up with the children when everyone is dressed alike! At first it didn't feel so cold, but as the time passed, my feet were freezing and heart was pounding harder. The kids were so excited and especially loved the slides made out of ice. Just wish we could have stayed longer and just relaxed in the beautiful atmosphere. I envision going back another day or evening - maybe while the kids are in school and sitting in their beautiful lobby surrounded by all the decorations, sip some tea, have a treat and just relax. Now that would be wonderful. Thanks to my sister and her family, Grandpa Rick and Nana Sandy, Christy and kids....for meeting up with us to enjoy a little bit of holiday cheer tonight.
