Honoring Women's Day

The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor its mother, and it's now celebrated on various days in many places around the world. However, I like to think of this day as an Honoring Day because there are so many women, whether they have children or not, have given as much of their heart and soul to caring and nurturing another human being. So today I honor women who have been there for someone else, lending a helping hand, soft voice, shoulder to cry, kind words, and just love and understanding. Because of all those things, you are mothering those around you. Giving birth does not necessarily make someone a mother - its what comes from the heart. Today I say a prayer for those who are with us now and those that have passed - my grandmothers Bessie and Virginia, who I miss alot and were amazing women, my own mother, Virginia Best, who was taken too quickly from us, to Mae Beach who was an amazing and loving neighbor - when I was little she taught me about faith and the importance of church, to Shirley Webb who always let me stay for dinner when I was a kid growing up, spend the night and take me along with the rest of her family and never made me feel as if I weren't welcome. My sister, Tammy, who has never ending patience and creativity for her children and mine and is always willing to lend a much needed hand and is just the best. Most of all, Lori, who's children are celebrating their first Mother's Day without her. I know her spirit is watching over them. She is greatly missed this Mother's Day and every day, her time here was far too short. Happy Honoring Women Day.
