Hosannah in the Highest

Tomorrow we celebrate Palm Sunday. On Palm Sunday Christians celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. For many Christian churches, Palm Sunday, often referred to as "Passion Sunday," marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday. The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him with waving palm branches, and by covering his path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross.

Tonight we were invited by Grandpa Rick to attend the Easter Pagent at his church. Just one word - Amazing! What's even more amazing, is practically everyone from the large orchestra, singing, dancing, videotaping, lighting, etc. came from their very multitalented congregation. I don't know why, but whenever I am emotionally moved or extremely joyful over a song, I get teary eyed and just want to burst into tears! Needless to say, I was wiping my eyes alot this evening. What makes me even more vulernable to these tears, is witnessing the expressions on my boys' faces when they are experiencing something new. Just knowing that the door to their world has been opened just a little bit more and especially seeing them embrace their faith. Here are just a few special moments:

When people were trying to say that Jesus did not turn water into wine and that he couldn't do the things he said he could, Dylan whispered (quite loudly) "mommy, they are calling Jesus a liar - Jesus doesn't LIE".

Connor on the other hand, was concerned and asked whether or not real nails would be used to crucify Jesus during the show. After being reassured they would not and they were all acting, when Jesus appeared covered in blood, Connor remarked "Dylan, don't worry, it's just paint, it will all wash off".

Another time, "Jesus" walked off the stage and right past our pew. The lighting was shining right on him and both Connor and Dylan were in awe. A few minutes later after he left the sanctuary, he reappeared on the opposite side of the church on stage. Dylan was so amazed he said "mommy, how did he do that - could that really be Jesus?"

When the show was over, Dylan said sadly "I wish I could be in that play". I felt all warm and fuzzy - and of course, just wanted to cry - just knowing the joy he experienced was enough for him to want to be part of it all. Hosanna in the Highest.
