According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus planned to kill the Jews, but his plans were foiled by Esther, who was made queen after his previous queen Vashti was dismissed, and Mordechai, a palace official who raised Esther when her parents died, and who was her cousin. The Jews were delivered from being the victims of an evil decree against them and were instead allowed by the King to destroy their enemies, and the day after the battle was designated as a day of feasting and rejoicing.

Purim time it here!
Today was one of the last big events for the twin's preschool before their graduation - it was their Purim show. Purim is a day of fun, dressing up in costume and feasting! It is always a fun time at school as everything is decorated in bright colors and clowns. The kids all make their graggers (noisemakers) so that when they hear the name of the evil Haman, they all shake their graggers as loud as they can (to drown out the name of evil)! They happily wore their costumes - Dylan deciding that today he would be Spiderman instead of his usual Peter Pan, that more muscle was needed to fight Haman, Connor went as a Knight and niece Juliet was Barbie Island Princess. The song they sang was when the King was asking Esther to marry him - the boys all sang "Esther will you marry me" and the girls yell "no", but after several attempts they say "maybe" and then they say "yes"! Then they did a dance they learned in Israeli dance class where they are saying Shalom to friends. All the classes were so adorable and they did a great job (even some of the teachers got in on the act). I will miss these shows next year as we prepare to move on to kindergarten. (be sure to turn your sound ON for the music in the videos)

I love Dylan in the Spiderman costume. His bulging pecs and biceps are sure to scary Haman. And Connor is such a handsome knight. He's going to give Prince Harry a run for his money. Adam looked at the pictures and kept yelling "those are my friends Dylan and Connor!"
