Today Austin is 10! Double digits. Preteen. Tween. 4th grader. Young man. Just 10 years ago, I went to the hospital at 4 a.m. thinking I had a bladder infection - no way did my water break 6 weeks early. But it was true and Austin was coming whether I was ready or not. He had a rough start - too many tubes and needles that sends a new mother into tears. Even though its been 10 years, those memories and the PAIN of that delivery are still quite clear in my cloudy, busy, and usually overwhelmed brain. Worth every second of it all. Austin was born the Sunday before Thanksgiving - all 5 lbs 2 oz of him at 1:13 p.m. He is especially excited when his birthday lands on Thanksgiving. As we all give thanks for many things this Thanksgiving, I will always know what to be thankful for first - my greatest Thanksgiving blessing of all - Austin! Oh Becky...such a bittersweet trip down memory lane. I can't believe that little Austin reached double-digits (demand a recount). Tell the little man, "Happy Birthday"from Adam and me.
