Every summer we pick several themes to explore all summer long. Our latest exploration is space - planets and stars. Most don't know that I actually attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama as an adult (I was MUCH younger however). It was the most awesome experience and I can't wait until the day I can take the boys to camp there. But in the mean time, I enjoy sharing my love for space exploration with them (I was a big fan of Lost in Space and Star Trek). This part of our journey recently took us to Goddards Visitor Center in Greenbelt, MD. It's just a little center but there is just enough there to keep the kids busy for several hours and you can't lose them (hurray for that one)! They even had dress up clothes so the kids could become commanders and payload specialists. There was even an Apollo capsule so they could sit and touch ALL the buttons and switches. You just don't realize how little space those first astronauts had until you see these capsules! They have been begging every day to go back. We have also been to the Udvar-Hazy Center, which is the newest addition to the Smith

sonian Air & Space Museum - it's really cool. You can even see planes taking off and landing at Dulles. Udvar-Hazy is well worth the visit. Next on our list is the Air & Space Museum downtown. Wish me luck riding the metro with all 3....worse part is we have to transfer trains - UGH!

Wow Becky, that sounds cool. What fun for the boys. Gives me an idea of trying to do a theme based summer rolled around activities for them to learn! Hope the boys are enjoying it
Hey Becky - Thanks for inviting me to your blog - I enjoy seeing the pics and hearing about your family! I was just going to e-mail you in fact, to invite you to a BBQ we are having... I will go do that now :-) ~Andrea (mom to Griffin, Torrin, and Annika)
