Whenever the moment moves me (which can be often at times), I like to have a place to just ramble on and on and on (yes, more than I do on this blog). We are in the midst of a multi-day power outage, forgotten street, freezing temps, and zero sleep. Thank goodness we still have a couple more weeks left on my dad's apt at the retirement community he was living (he has already moved). Before night could fall on the 3rd day, we packed up and headed to senior living! Its warm, friendly and we got cable and wireless internet! I didn't post my rantings here but if interested, you can go to my "rambling blog" at http://elviscorgisme.blogspot.com/2011/01/3-ws-and-golden-rule.html But for now, I will tell you what I am grateful for during this challenging time:
1. That we already had my father safetly settled in his new home and was well cared for and no worries of him disappearing in the snow.
2. That my dads house is rented and someone else is taking care of the pipes, heat, walkways, etc.
3. That we don't use an outhouse, and no matter how cold my toilet seat gets, its better than an outhouse!
4. That my boys are not bothered by any of it. They have enjoyed sledding and snowman and fort buildling and love camping in the living room.
5. That no one cares how many days I haven't showered or fixed myself because neither have they!
6. That the roads are clear so we can get out and get things and go places....if I wanted to shower.
7. That my dads place was still available and empty for us to stay.
8. That all my dad's furniture is still in the apartment and the office forgot to disconnect the cable!!!
9. That no one got sick (knock on wood)and required an ER trip.
10. That we've had each other, enjoyed each others time and got to spend extra time with the kids and no stress to do anything.
Happy first snow freezing power outage week!!The year is still young!
