Sacred Moment

My baby has taken so many "big" steps in recent days, weeks, months. From starting middle school (that's a biggie), last week he received his first communion with me (we're not catholic so its not a big production but important none the less).....today he served as an acolyte for the first time. He was in charge of lighting the candles and laying the offertory on the altar. I get so emotional over each religous benchmark. Receiving his first bible a few years ago started it all. It fills my heart with joy and emotion. He looked so handsome in his robe today - I got all teary and was taking pictues. My baby is growing up. I hope he carries these special moments close to his heart. Though this may not be one of those moments that will particularly stand out in his mind.....unlike playing paintball or getting the latest lego set. But someday, I believe he will embrace it all and maybe he will be just as moved when his own child reaches these milestones. Next up confirmation....but that's next year. Right now he is enjoying being part of youth group, youth book club, working on community service projects, taking part in the church services and learning to hold his faith closely.
