Happy 4th of July

(top pic - sleepover bound, middle pic - digging deep at the beach, bottom pic - dressed in our red, white and blue for the parade!)
For us, if it isnt jammed packed with activities involving water, a parade, fireworks, endless hours of eating, and TOTAL exhaustion in the end, it wouldn't be the 4th of July. We kicked off the holiday weekend with Connor and Dylan going on their first sleepover at Aunt Tammy's house. Dylan had been begging. Of course, you can't go on your first sleepover without your own sleeping bag! So off to Target we went, Connor was excited to find a sleeping set (pillow and nightlight included) and it was High School Musical! Dylan wanted one too. All went well, though it was hours passed their bedtime before anyone was asleep. Friday morning, my sister and I decided to take the "Play Posse" to the beach. Breezy Point is just an hour from our house on the Chesapeake, okay it's not the Caribbean and the water isn't blue (just have to ignore the brown) but kids don't care. We were blessed with beautiful weather. What did they love the most -digging. digging, digging and more digging. We were there for 4 1/2 hours and still had to drag all 5 of them away kicking and pouting. Matter-a-fact, Austin dug a hole so deep, that other kids on the beach were in awe and were coming to admire his work. Natalie and Dylan later started their own digging project. Before you knew it, we probably had a dozen or more kids all working on holes, working together and sharing buckets. It was quite a site but wonderful to see how so many came together to have fun. The girls found 4 shark's teeth. Saturday morning we were up and out early and heading to the Takoma Park 4th of July Parade! The Glasser gang hooked up with the Hill's - we ate funnel cake and french fries. Brett was driving his motorcycle in the parade this year so we all waited patiently to cheer him on. Even more fun, Uncle Brad came down from New York City for the weekend. He just blends in as one of the kids and they love it. That evening, it was cookout time at Tammy's, then backyard fireworks (illegal in our county but Uncle Willy and Mr. Luis couldn't resist - thanks, they were fabulous), then it was off to the big fireworks and home to collapse from exhaustion! By Sunday morning, no one was moving out of their pjs - we napped, watched movies, ate some more and went right back to napping. Gotta love holidays! Hope everyone had a great 4th, whether it was just relaxing, visiting friends or being crazy! Happy 4th!

What a fabulous 4th of July! I think my favorite day was either the beach or the lazy-Sunday. You guys know how to celebrate!
