Hopping Along

We may not be at the White House today, rolling eggs with the masses, instead we had an "eggfabulous" egg hunt on Easter with my sister's kids and her neighbors kids. The dads hid close to 300 eggs - and yes, all filled with some type of goodie or prize! So each kid got at least 20-25 eggs each! Now that is an egg hunt! Despite Dylan having strep and me having pneumonia, the boys decorated lots of hard boiled eggs - which are left for the Easter bunny to hide and they search for first thing in the morning, they helped fill 240 plastic eggs, and decorated baskets. At the end of church service, Rev. Rachel had a wonderful surprise for the children, instead of everyone exiting the church towards the parking lot, we all went out front through the large white doors facing the main road. All the children were given balloons (no strings, and YES biodegardable), then all at one time, the balloons were released! It was a wonderful sight. Dylan kept saying "mommy it was a rainbow". The wind was blowing and all the balloons were floating up and down the road. What a wonderful way to end the Easter service. Then we were off to my sister's house, about 13 kids searched for eggs, then it was time to eat, go through all the treasures and treats inside the eggs...then the kids were hiding eggs for each other. Isn't it amazing how a bunch of plastic eggs can be so entertaining? And of course, the Easter Bunny managed to slip by our house for a snack and leave wonderful baskets. Connor and Dylan were very thrilled with the "Diego" baskets equipped with binoculars, helmets, bug boxes and chocolate. Austin was even more thrilled with the water guns that the Easter Bunny felt he deserved this year. This year the "Easter Bunny" was thankful to have already made baskets for Connor and Dylan and just needed to add a chocolate bunny and gummy worms to make it complete - also with Austin's. Some years, E.B. is more creative in his basket creations but this year, it worked out just right.
