Happy St. Patricks Day!

Whether you're Irish or something else, how could you not love celebrating this day. A day when you're just suppose to be happy, dress in green and find creative ways to fix food and drinks that are green! On Saturday, we attended the Gaithersburg St. Patty's parade, Brett rode the motorcycle in it. We were joined by the boy's Great Aunt Sue so that is always a treat. On Sunday we were invited to a friend's house for cornbeef and cabbage. Okay, I don't really eat that stuff, but the company was great and there is always dessert! Tonight the kids had green quesadillas, green grapes, cucumbers, and green veggie chips along with green colored apple juice. The boys loved it!If you ever have a chance to go, Ireland is a beautiful place with wonderful people to meet. Though it has now been 26 years since I've been (how could it have been that long already!), my memories are still fresh. Standing on the Cliffs of Mohr with no one else around, staying in farm houses while driving across the country, visting the Waterford Crystal factory...and of course, never forgetting the time when I got to kiss (yes actually kiss) the Blarney Stone. In order to kiss the stone, you must lay on your back and hang upside down through a hole at the top of the castle. There are poles to hold but also someone needs to hold your legs. The stone is probably a foot or more down! Who thought of this??! But I came that far, believe me, I was kissing that darn stone!! Kissing the stone gives you the gift of "gab", which means the gift of clever or flattery talk (no it doesn't mean to talk MORE). Erin go braugh! Ireland Forever! From my pics in 1983, you can see how tall Blarney Castle really is - that's me getting to kiss the stone, which is at the very TOP of this castle! It's a long way to be looking down and hoping whatever stranger holding your legs - doesn't let GO!
