Where's my baby boy?

I sit here in amazement now, wondering how my first born baby boy has grown into such a little man. He is in 4th grade now, up to my shoulders, weighs 76 lbs and I can't put my finger on what exactly has changed, but it has. I find myself getting teary as I watch him from across the room, growing more and more and becoming a new person and yet not. He will come and sit in my lap at times, and though the weight of him on my lap can be crushing, I just smile and bear the pain....as I did when I gave birth. These moments get less and less so I hold on to them dearly. Austin will be turning 10 this November - the double digits. His world is growing, he is growing and I only hope that all the guidance, nurturing, enrichment and everything else we've done will help him grow into a happy and wonderful young person. Austin loves school and his friends, keeps involved at church and actively helps the food bank there - restocking food, cleaning shelves, bagging groceries, he continues to love art and is now taking yoga. I think that's when it really hit me - his yoga class is for "tweens". No longer a little boy but not yet a teenager. He decided to be in orchestra this year and has started learning the clarinet. His lego days are still around but have advanced to a Robotic Lego League. So much so fast...where does the time go. Believe me it goes and I'm feeling it alot lately. I know there are amazing days ahead on the horizon with Austin but it's just days like this I yearn for him to be in diapers and onesies. My very wise and dear friend Carol, a boy momma too, has a quote on her blog ... "from small things come great wonders" ... that's my Austin!

Oh Becky!

When did Austin turn 10 years old?!! I still remember the little baby boy. I feel like we blink and we miss 2 years.

How cool that Austin is playing a musical instrument. I told Adam that Austin plays the clarinet. Adam's response was that long black snake?! We went to the International Festival and there was a "petting musician" farm. A clarinet was on display for kids to touch. Adam held it and yelled this is like a snake.

Yes, time does indeed go fast. I can't believe Jack and Caroline are turning 6 on Saturday. We are constantly reminded to hold onto the memories, moments, etc. Cherish each day for sure

Gosh Becky, the years have gone by like lightning. I remember the first time I held Austin, he was so small, I thought he would break & just look at him now - I can't hardly believe my eyes.
